Generally, you can only change your benefit choices during the annual\u00a0Open Enrollment period or if you have an IRS \u201cQualifying Event\u201d during the year, which includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Marriage or Divorce<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Birth, adoption, or placement for adoption of an eligible child<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Death of your spouse or covered child<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Change in your spouse\u2019s work status that results in cancellation of your benefits<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Your dependent child is no longer eligible<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Loss of coverage through a parent\u2019s plan<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Becoming eligible for Medicare or Medicaid during the year<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you have a life event change, you must submit a notification to your employer within 30 days of the qualifying event<\/strong>. <\/strong>Depending on the type of change, you may need to provide proof documentation (for example, a marriage license or birth certificate). If you do not submit a notification within 30 days, you will have to wait until the next annual Open Enrollment period to make benefit changes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
